FAQ's
1
What is functional medicine?
Instead of merely suppressing symptoms with a prescription, functional medicine seeks to resolve the underlying source of imbalance. As many chronic conditions originate from lifestyle choices, I prioritize addressing and optimizing habits involving nutrition, activity, stress, rest, and emotional well-being to restore your body’s natural vitality and long-term health.

Why hire a nurse coach?
Partnering with a nurse coach is a game-changer for anyone committed to foundational wellness. While lifestyle medicine principles are straightforward, applying them daily is challenging. Sustainable transformation demands unwavering focus and grit, especially during periods of low motivation.
A nurse coach serves as your accountability partner, keeping your ultimate goals at the forefront of every decision. I act as an expert sounding board for your questions, helping you navigate obstacles and shifting your mindset to break free from stagnant patterns that have previously held you back from success.

What’s the difference between a basic health coach and a nurse coach?
We practice the same concepts, however you receive a bonus when working with an RN. That bonus includes first hand experience in complex disease processes, understanding human anatomy and physiology, extensive education in pharmacology, direct patient care, leadership qualities, and the level of discernment required to confirm whether or not health data is legitimate and evidence-based.
Additionally, I'm on the path to receive accreditation through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation earning me the elite title of Board Certified Holistic Nurse Coach.

Are you a substitute for a primary care provider, specialist, counselor, dietician, ect.
No. Diagnosing is not in my scope of practice. My specialty is utilizing the science of change, habit formation, and motivational interviewing while also possessing knowledge in human anatomy, physiology, and disease process to bring you closer to a capable body and mind. The more people on your side, the merrier, so being connected with a primary care, counselor, etc does not mean you can not work with me. In fact you will find you will make greater progress the more people you have on your side.
***P.S. I strongly suggest informing other members of your healthcare team that you have hired a nurse coach so they can make adjustments to their care if needed.

How is this different from a typical visit with my doctor, primary care physician, or specialist?
Rather than focusing on symptom management, lifestyle medicine is designed to improve your life (and even cure disease) from the bottom up. I often hear that patients feel dismissed, ignored or completely gaslighted when they express their concerns to their doctor or health specialist. My visits with you revolve around YOUR thoughts, concerns, aspirations and wildest dreams. We are going to dive deep into your current lifestyle and identify the misalignment between what your current habits are and what your vision of true wellbeing is.
6
Are you covered by insurance?
Unfortunately at this time, health coaching is not covered by insurance and is an out of pocket expense.
